The Perfect Nursing Career in Your Hometown: Online Job and Education Resources for Nurses

Advancing your Nursing career can be a challenge.  Where will you get your education?  How will you pay for school?  How will you find a job?  Until recently, these were questions you'd have to answer on your own.  But fortunately, things have changed in recent years.  Now you can get all the information you need, right in your own home.  Nurses can now access a wealth of online information to help supercharge their Nursing careers.  If you're a Nurse who's looking to enter Healthcare Management, it's time to use the internet as a tool for career advancement.

It all starts with school.  RNs who want to enter Healthcare Management typically need some additional education.  Degrees like a Master of Science in Nursing will position you as a viable candidate for a Healthcare Management position.  If you already have a solid background as a licensed RN, you may be eligible for immediate entry into an MSN program.  A quick search on the internet will reveal a list of local schools that can meet you educational needs

Searching for nearby schools isn’t all you can do online. Many schools, including Loyola University of New Orleans, offer online degree programs in the Healthcare Management field.  Candidates with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing are typically eligible for immediate entry.  But for those who aren’t, don’t worry.  With a few additional credit hours of study, you can become eligible for an online Master of Science in Nursing.  With online education, you won’t have to travel far from home to get your degree.  In fact, you won’t have to travel at all.  Online programs let you learn from home, without the costly, time-consuming commute.

By all means, use the internet to find some tuition assistance.  Scholarships and financial aid programs are offered by many schools.  Simply apply at your school's website and see what happens.  There are no guarantees, but it never hurts to try.  If that doesn’t work out, you might apply for a privately funded scholarship.  Thousands of private organizations offer scholarships to the public.  Check out www.college-scholarships.com for useful links.  It's got a huge list of resources for students in need of assistance.

Of course, student loans are always an option.  Lenders such as Astrive and Bank Of America make online loan applications a breeze.  As with any transaction, make sure you read the fine print before you sign on the dotted line, and carefully consider whether a student loan is the right financial decision for you.

Once you've obtained your degree, it's time to find the right job for you.  Many Nurses prefer to stay close to home so they can raise their children or watch over loved ones, including aging parents.  If you're hesitant to relocate to a new city, use online resources to find local job openings.

Don't overlook traditional job sites, such as Monster.com, HotJobs.com, and CareerBuilder.com.  These websites have a long-established record of delivering targeted job opportunities, and don’t forget about Nursing-specific websites, such as www.Nursingcenter.com and medi-smart.com, which offer tons of job resources for Nurses.  But that's not all they have to offer.  These sites feature Nursing blogs and continuing education resources to help you stay current on all of your professional requirements.

Moving away from home to attend school can be stressful.  Not just for you, but for your family too.  Long-commutes can put a strain on your time and your pocketbook.  But with online resources to help you succeed, pursuing your Nursing career close to home is an achievable goal.  With a little resourcefulness and plenty of determination, you can make it happen.  Because after all, there's no place like home.
