Leader in Distance Learning
Loyola is well known for its success in the education of adult non-traditional learners. City College first began providing distance education in 1983 through the Loyola Institute for Ministry Extension Program (LIMEX). Then in the fall of 1990, the Department of Nursing initiated the Off-Campus Learning Program (OCLP) to offer the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree at a number of hospital sites throughout in Louisiana. Most recently, in the summer of 2004, the Department of Nursing launched a completely online Master Of Science In Nursing (MSN) program with a focus on Health Care Systems Management.
Experienced Faculty
Loyola has a well-prepared and diverse faculty to implement a curriculum that includes content to help prepare Nurse leaders to serve a wide variety of populations and communities.
Almost all courses are taught by full-time faculty, with 89% holding doctoral or equivalent degrees in their area of expertise. Professors have been recognized nationally and internationally by the Pulitzer Committee, the National Science Foundation, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and by numerous other professional and scholarly associations.
